Chief Operating and Investment Officer (COIO)

Full Time Position Job Details

USP Management, Inc., a leader in the steel coil import, processing, and distribution industry, is seeking a dynamic and versatile Chief Operating and Investment Officer (COIO) to join our executive team. This hybrid role combines hands-on operational leadership of our core steel business with oversight of real estate and portfolio investment activities. The COIO will work closely with the President and executive leadership team to drive strategic growth, financial performance, and operational excellence.

Responsibility Areas:

  • Lead and optimize daily steel business operations, including supply chain management, vendor/supplier relationships, and profitability tracking.
  • Monitor and optimize performance across the supply chain to maintain cost-efficiency and delivery reliability.
  • Identify, assess, and manage real estate and portfolio investment opportunities, including rental property operations, 1031 exchanges, and asset diversification strategies.
  • Collaborate with legal and accounting teams to optimize entity structuring, tax efficiency, and regulatory compliance for both operational and investment activities.
  • Provide strategic support for business expansion initiatives, capital projects, and potential sale or acquisition opportunities.
  • Maintain financial oversight while ensuring operational processes remain lean, scalable, and data-driven.
  • Foster strong internal communication across operations, finance, and executive teams to align investment and business strategies.
  • Guide performance metrics and reporting to ensure informed decision-making and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in operations, investment analysis, or business management—preferably in a manufacturing, real estate, or logistics-related industry.
  • Strong business acumen with a blend of operational and financial expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with investment principles and real estate asset management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Fluency in both English and Korean is required to effectively manage international relationships and investment communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the steel industry or related sectors (e.g., manufacturing, industrial services).
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or professional certifications in finance or investment (e.g., CFA, CPA, CMA).
  • Working knowledge of 1031 exchange strategies, entity structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Comfort navigating both day-to-day operations and long-term investment planning.
 

Work Hours: Full-Time (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
