Import Coordinator

Full Time Position Job Details

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Import Coordinator to manage the smooth movement of goods through the import process. This role involves coordinating with shipping agents, reviewing import documents for compliance, classifying goods according to customs codes, and managing duties and taxes. The coordinator will address and resolve customs-related issues, mitigate risks, and maintain records of all customs transactions. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential. Prior experience in customs clearance and a solid understanding of international trade regulations are preferred.

Responsibility Areas: 

    • Coordinate closely with shipping agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and government agencies as necessary for the smooth movement of goods through the import process.
    • Review the necessary import documents and ensure all paperwork complies with the various importing requirements, compliances, policies, and rules.
    • Classify goods according to the appropriate customs tariff codes and keep up-to-date with customs regulations and tariffs.
    • Calculate and manage duties, taxes, and other charges associated with import activities. 
    • Address and resolve any delays, fines, or seizures imposed by customs authorities.
    • Manage and mitigate risks associated with customs clearance.
    • Maintain records of all customs transactions and generate reports on customs activities for management review.

Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience with in-house customs clearance experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Be a proactive self-starter and detail-oriented mind with the ability to multitask.
    • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to understand thorough of international trade regulations.
    • Strong computer literacy (Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel Applications).

Preferred Qualifications: 

    • 1–2 years of experience as an import and/or export coordinator.
    • Proven work experience with transportation and compliance systems.

Work Hours: Full-Time (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
